Would you like to join me on a journey to the desert? This past spring we had seemingly endless rain here in North Vancouver. The wet, dark days led me to start reflecting back on a nice, dry, hot trip to Joshua Tree National Park. I had been saving some photos from the Hidden Valley Trail to explore with my paints. The Metamorphic Collection is the result of that exploration which will be released Oct 21st on Artwrk.ca These paintings represent the beauty and abstract quality of the other-worldly landscape in the desert. The vast, exposed spaces, and the way the land has been sculpted with rugged rock formations and boulders over time lends itself well to both landscape and abstract pieces. It’s a hostile environment for animals and vegetation, but somehow everything looks smoothed over. The warm and inviting palette is meant to remind you of that glorious feeling of the sun shining on your (SPF covered) face. Those on my subscriber list will receive the first access to purchase this collection. I can't wait to share the Metamorphic Collection with you.

These four pieces will be available this Thursday Oct 6 until Saturday Oct 8th in the online Square Foot Show. I'll post the link on my site to purchase on Thursday and those on my subscriber list will receive it first. Can't wait to be apart of this online sale of 292 paintings. You can read more about my inspiration in the previous blog post.
I'm thrilled to have been invited to enter the Square Foot Show by amazing watercolour painter Andrea England. The theme is Autumn. Growing up in Southern Ontario my Fall memories include the prevalent bright reds, oranges and yellows, and bringing my whole kindergarten class home to jump in the leaves of our great big backyard tree. While I miss those brilliant reds, the Fall colours here in Vancouver are no less spectacular. Driving up to Whistler on a crisp Fall weekend from Vancouver, you will find a gorgeous array of yellows and oranges set against a beautiful mountain backdrop and the aqua tinted waters of Howe Sound or Green Lake. My four pieces for the Square Foot Show are all flashes of Fall splendor, slivers of ever changing perfect views. Shown below are two of my entries: Now You See It and Now You Don't.
The Square Foot Show in Autumn features one-of-a-kind original 12″x 12″ paintings around the theme of Autumn, created by 52 artists from across North America. Each piece is the same price ($300) and will be available through the Square Foot Show website when the show begins. There’s a reason, after all, that Square Foot Show has become known as the “Black Friday of Art!” I'll be sharing the link here and directly with my subscribers list prior to the show going live. I've seen pieces fly out the door in this sale, so if you see something you like, it's best to jump right on it when it opens on Thursday October 6th (closing Oct 8th). Join my Collectors list here to be sent the link directly. #katierodgersart #squarefootshow #autumnartwork #autumnpaintings #fallpaintings #seatoskyview #mountainpaintings #artwork #westcoastartist #canadianartist #canadianart
